Jagath Wickramanayake

Mr. Jagath Wickramanayake was conferred the appointment of President’s Counsel in 2019 and obtained his Masters in law in relation to Law of International Trade from the University of Wales, United Kingdom. Mr. Wickramanayake also holds a Diploma in Intellectual Property Law offered by the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Sri Lanka Law College and he is an Attorney at Law of the Supreme Court geared with 25 years of experience in the practicing Bar. He has been practicing in the areas of Civil and Commercial Law and he is also a visiting lecturer in the Kothalawala Defense University.

Further Mr. Wickramanayake was a Member of the Sri Lanka Delegation and participated in the Law Asia Conferences held in Tokyo, Japan (2017) and served as an International Judge of the Moot Competition held in Tokyo, Japan simultaneously with the Law Asia Conference. Mr. Jagth Wickramanayake was appointed as the Chairman of the Media Lawyers working group established by the National Secretariat for Media Reforms (NSMR) for the purpose of studying and making recommendations to the authorities for enacting laws in relation to media in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Wickramanyake is currently reading for his Phd and is the Legal Advisor and is one of the most distinguished Counsels for the Nanayakkara Associates.
